The Horticultural Trades Association has this week launched its Sustainability Roadmap to guide the industry to the forefront of sustainable business practice.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>The UK horticultural sector is already taking steps to be greener and improve our natural environment through its very nature. However, as every industry needs to do, it is turning more attention to environmental issues highlighted by the government.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister recently announced his ten-point, 25-year plan for a green industrial revolution and the HTA believe they have their part to play.\u00a0HTA Chairman, James Barnes, comments:<\/p>\n

\u201cHorticulture has an intrinsic connection to the environment – we are a community who cares about the natural world and it is in our interests to safeguard its future\u00a0– I believe we have an essential role to play in the Government\u2019s plan to transition to a greener economy.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The HTA has undertaken ground-breaking\u00a0work with its members to identify five key areas\u00a0to place\u00a0horticulture and\u00a0landscaping\u00a0at the leading edge of sustainable business practice. The Sustainability Roadmap is designed as a framework for collaboration. It details ambitious targets for 2025 in the following areas:<\/p>\n
