Our team of eight are taking part in Race the Thames 2023 to raise money for fantastic causes.

Together with 19 other teams from ClearCourse and countless more from around the UK, the Swan Retail team will virtually race the length of the river Thames. That’s 346km (215 miles)!

Competitors can get their mileage done anywhere via a range of activities; from rowing, running and cycling to more unusual methods using pogo sticks and space hoppers. The race begins on Friday 27th January at 3pm and ends a week later (or when every team has reached the estuary).

As well as being a fun way to get fit and shake off the winter blues, the race’s main aim is to raise vital funds for important causes. The event is organised by London Youth Rowing, a charity committed to providing life-enriching opportunities for young people across the UK. Their mission is to:

  • Encourage disadvantaged young people to be active, and improve their physical, social and mental wellbeing
  • Help develop crucial life skills, which are necessary for success in the classroom and the workplace
  • Enable young people to participate in the unique sport, regardless of background, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability or ability
  • Nurture determination and success in a new generation

In addition to raising funds for London Youth Rowing, Swan’s team will also be supporting Breast Cancer Now, Rowans Hospice, Katharine House Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.

You can be part of the story by donating to the Swan team’s fundraising page

We wish everyone the best of luck!
