Well-known department store, Beales, have opened a 44,000sq ft retail space in Peterborough.

The store spans across three floors and has undergone significant renovation works. It employs thirty members of staff and is home to a range of fashion brands, home furnishings, a large array of shoes, gardening equipment and a café.

The Beales Story

Beales Department Stores began trading in 1881 in Bournemouth. From there, it grew to be an independent chain at the heart of nearly 30 towns and cities in the UK.

Despite the best efforts of all concerned, January 2020 saw the sad news that all Beales stores were to be closed. However, five months later the Beales brand was brought by New Start 2020 Limited who firstly reincarnated the department store in Poole last year. They went on to transform Beales online and are continuing to enhance their eCommerce offering.

Beales & Swan Retail

In 2020, Swan Retail were tasked with supporting Beales in their fast-paced, ambition 8-week reopening project for their Poole store, together with growing their eCommerce channel. We provided in-store EPoS, Swan Retail System (SRS) and built a web connector between the retail system and their Shopify site. Paul Masterson from Cupcake Marketing on behalf of Beales commented:

“We needed a system that we knew would work for us from a supplier that could understand our needs and deliver within our timescales. From past experience, I know that other systems would have taken 18 months or 2 years to put in place.

“The team were easy to work with and the fact that they delivered the project on time with limited resources is a credit to them. They are really knowledgeable and understand things from the retailer’s perspective.”
