Department Stores

Department StoreDepartment Stores need to stock a host of mixed merchandise from electrical items with warranties and WEEE requirements, to clothing with complex size-colour-fit matrixes to bespoke furniture with customer special orders and back order processing.

The stores often require multiple EPoS terminals with access to customer accounts and loyalty schemes, the ability to manage multiple payment types such as promotional vouchers and interest-free credit offers and which have cash management features for store reconciliation, banking and links to the back office accounts.

The Swan application encompasses all of these requirements plus much more. We have several customers with over 50 EPoS terminals per store and deliver a true end to end application covering all of the functionality expected from a modern day department store.

The unique product structure within the database supports multiple stock types managing the associated attributes which are specific to each department, providing the relevant functionality on an individual basis. Within the product database, the solution has many configuration routines for linked item selling, selling in different units (weight, litres, packs), actions against products, capture of serial number and composite product “kits”.

Department Stores are destination retailers and have to offer exceptional customer service and buying experience, both online and in-store. The Swan solution assists in this process and provides consistent and coherent product descriptions and prices across all customer touch points, as well as making multi-channel services such as click and collect, quote instore buy online and wedding lists possible.

Additional benefits offered include point of sale display printing, extensive promotion management facilities, consumer marketing via email and text and customisable (graphical) management reporting.
